First off, let me just say that I am hangin' just fine. Yes, I have jet lag and I've had little sleep but that part isn't new to me. The wheels aren't falling off yet and I will speak up if they start rattling.
Now, on to more important issues. I said my girl was sick and on the end of her antibiotic round started in China. I was still concerned with her respiratory status. She had been feverish but that resolved. Still, she is snotty, restless, and not eating well at all (because it is a struggle just to breathe). If I didn't already have an appointment this morning with her pediatrician then I would have been making one. She seemed to worsen in the night to a point where I was teetering on taking her to the ER for a breathing treatment. But, she settled down a bit and we waited it out.
The routine exam went by the wayside for my girl. I had bigger concerns with her breathing and they were well founded. We got a breathing treatment, a chest x-ray and scads of bloodwork (that was part of the post-adoption visit). If my kid doesn't hate me for a lifetime it will be a miracle. I had to restrain her and hold the nebulizer mask to her face. As well, I had to body lock her for the blood draw...5 tubes! Yes, I was the x-ray kid stabilizer too. Oh well, I feel better being the one to do it rather than turn her over to strangers. They were very glad I was comfortable with it because they never would have been able to get that blood drawn without the body lock.
CW's antibiotic has been changed and I will be doing her breathing treatments at home throughout the weekend. We will go back to the ped on Monday for re-evaluation. Hopefully, we will have turned the corner and headed down the road. If not, we will be looking at a hospital admission (or if she tanks before then). I feel confident she will perk up with the meds for her airway and the antibiotic change, but if not it is off to Children's we go. The ped is just wonderful. She called me within the hour of the x-ray having gotten a wet reading. She reassured me that we were looking okay to continue with the outpatient plan because the x-ray did not show pneumonia. She simply has severe bronchiolitis. Poor kid. She's struggling a bit right now but we'll get through.
Needless to say, I am WAY behind on my plans to catch up with email and blogs. For those who have sent emails...know that I am thinking of you despite it taking me forever to respond. You are on my mind and I appreciate you.
It is amazing how much more together I feel after getting through all those visits (doc, lab, x-ray, pharmacy) today without going off my nut in the least. A little sunshine helped a lot too.
Off to prepare that dose of antibiotics and tuck my girl in for a bit. She was a real trooper today and was only a banshee during the blood draw (which I totally get). Oh, a big hooray that I get to gather poop and pee too! This poor kid of mine. What a welcome home :0(
Please send some good karma that she's her smiling flappy self again soon.

Are you kidding? -------- checking up on emails and blogs!! Don't even think about those things!
You get your little Chicken Wing well again.
Bless her heart - I hope she is feeling better soon.
Much love being sent to you both!!!!
Good karma coming in a giant dose. Poor little CW. Hoping she's on the mend quick with no hospital admissions.
As if you're even thinking about emails and others' blogs right now!!
Hope that CW can turn that corner quickly and start to feel much better soon. Thinking of you both.
Sending lots of good vibes that health improves quickly and that nothing futher needs to happen.
Hugs and good thoughts to you both. You are going through the rites of motherhood pretty quickly. Hope CW start to show improvement real quickly. She could not have anyone better taking care of her. I hope you are able to get some rest also.
Take care of each other...Linda
That initial blood draw was one of the worst things we've ever had to do. Being so sick on top of it must have been just awful for PIPA.
Hunker down, get some sun, and do what ever you need to do.
Welcome home!
Sending all sorts of healing vibes CW's way
Poor nugget! I hope she improves and is flapping away soon.
Keep smilin!
I hope CW feels MUCH better very soon!
Glad to hear your dr.'s visit went well..
Hope little Pipa gets better soon.
HUGS..
Thinking of you both.
If it means anything - she will not remember it...I wish CW a FAST recovery!
I bet she will sleep better once she can breathe too
You need anything at all, just let me know. I'm not far away.
Carol
I will be praying for your precious little one to be well quickly.
It will get better, I promise! Quint was so sick when we came home from Ethiopia - breathing treatments, the blood work, etc. I sooo remember this...but suddenly you find the medicine is working, your routine is taking shape, and you can't remember what you did with all your time before she came home...
Enjoy your new journey - it's the absolute best ever! (though some days it might not seem like it so much! ha!)
Sending truckloads of good karma your way!
XoXo
Gaaw I hate holding my kids down for medical stuff....but better me than a stranger I guess.
Hope your girl is feeling better soon.
Remember I got a DX of whooping cough when I got back from china.
can't wait to see your pics.
I haven't sent you any emails....I can only imagine what your in box looks like!
Ahhh, the poor girl...nothing like coming home to shots, blood drawn and a body lock. Smooches to you both!
Praying that your "chicken wing" is back to normal soon! Thanks for sharing this journey with us...it helps so much with the long wait!
Michelle
Where'd my other comment go?
sending prayers and good karma your way. I know all to well the blood work, xray, tb testing, gathering of stool and pee thing.
I sure hope the antibiotics and breathing treatments kick in. Poor little CW (and mom)
Poor Pipo and Chicken Wing...I'm so sorry you are both sick. I'm sure CW will be back to her smiley self soon.
And Pipo, I know how hard it is to be the "butt wiper" and not getting the smiles. The Angel Face only had smiles and fun for Daddy in China...a lot of the babies preferred their Daddies..but now Kelsey wants Mommy all the time.
Claire is beginning to realize now that she doesn't have to be "on" every second and you will always be there for her! The unsmilely self is her beginnings of trust :)
Hugs friend, the jet lag was BAD! and I remember it well.
Your sweet girl will be in my prayers.
((hugs)) to both of you
Hope CW is feeling better soon! I'm so glad it isn't pneumonia! BTDT with Kieren in China! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I had Kieren shower with me to help with her breathing. It got both of us clean (!) and seemed to make her feel better for a while. Call or email me anytime!
Sending CW huge get well hugs and positive thoughts for a speedy recovery. I am also sending you big hugs as well.
BTW, expect 1 day for every hour of time difference to get CW to this timezone. (12 hours = 12 days to adjust.) Sucks, but so true!
Welcome home.
sending lots of healing juju your way
Oh my gosh! Poor Mom and poor CW. I hope that she gets better over the weekend and so glad that you caught this early without going into pneumonia.
Praying, praying for your CW and a quick recovery. Heh...if anyone knows how to do the breathing thing and nebulizer treatments, it's you. Sorry you're going through this but SO HAPPY that CW has a momma who knows her stuff.
THinking of you guys! Hope CW is on the mend very soon. Such a hard way to start. A was really sick when we were in China. I was so scared by the awful congestion. Luckily the antibiotics eventually did the trick. Sounds like CW is in great care with you, her calm mom, and you are happy with your pediatrician. Good vibes are being sent to you!
Poor thing..I so remember the blood draws after our boys got home..I know it was bad for them but I think it is worse on us new moms:(
I am praying for a peaceful night of sleep for BOTH of you.
You are my hero... I sooooo dread when Tate gets sick.
Sending good Karma your way! Keep us posted.
Lisa
Poor chicken wing!! Sounds like she has bird flu?!! (HA!! I crack myself up!!!)
What an organised Mama you are?!!! Visiting the paed just days after arriving home?!!! I still haven't been, now we're off to Bali, so it'll have to wait.
Will be offering up some prayers for you and your wee one tonight!
Oh lordie... this reminds me of when Hannah came home. She had Pnemonia, and a double ear infection. Do you remember we were at the ER twice within 2 days home? Went thru the same stuff and it was god awful. But the meds worked and she got better fairly quick. Your little Pipa will too, I swear. It is so hard to come home just from the trip alone, with the adjustment never mind with a sick princess. Smooches and good karma. Take care of you and your girl.
You take care of your little girlie before worrying about being behind on your emails! Take care of her; hoping you will give a quick update this weekend.
Alyzabeth's Mommy
Who cares about blogs and e-mails? You take care of your girl! I agree, our ped. is simply the best!
Sorry to hear your poor girl is feeling so rough!
Had to do that body hold too with Ava for blood work and shots! It was a nightmare trying to hold on to her...so after all that trauma that Mommy just imposed on her(in her eyes anyway)...I used the "Emla" patches for every other lab stick or vaccine and she was great with it. Not sure if you have them in the States, they are xylocaine patches, much like a large bandaid and I put them on at least one hour prior to shots or bloodwork( I put them on both arms, just to be sure). We call them her magic bandaids that take the "owies" away. I wish I had thought of them before our first clinic visit!
Just a thought I'd pass on for future reference.
Feel better Chicken Wing and Mama Chicken Wing! Things are tough enough getting into the swing of things and to add this complication... BIG HUGS.
I am sending a whole truckload of good kharma your way! Take care of that little CW and try tog et some rest. We are thinking of you.
Hope your little CW feels better. Ask your pediatrician for the papoose next time for blood work. It's the BEAT and you won't have to hold her down, just hold her hand, stroke her face, etc It's much easier on mama and baby.
Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Dealing with a sick kiddo is rough, dealing with one when you want to collapse with jet lag is really rough. (And yes, I would agree that the travel is just downright brutal...especially that flight back.)
Oh, I am so sorry to hear about your sweet baby!!! I will be praying that she is back to her happy, flappy self SO soon!
Poor, poor CW. And here I've been whining about the Tongginator. Get well soon, y'all. I'll be praying hard.
Praying for your little chicken wingey. I hope she feels better soon! I had LOTS of fun with Neil with regards to pneumonia and bronchitis when he was a baby. It sucked. He had RSV.
Have fun poop collecting. We did that too. Ugh.
