The family shower was this afternoon. My sis-in-law is the best kind of person anyone could hope to know. She hosted a fabulous shower for my girl AND she is going to be my China sidekick. I just love her. No photos yet because, of course, I didn't take any. I will get them emailed eventually but pictured above are the cute little favors she made holding candies and a Chinese fan inside with chopsticks and fortune cookies in there as well. She didn't miss a beat. She even had chopsticks holding her hair up for the occasion. There was Chinese fare to munch on as well as some good ole party finger food. My niece made cakes that look like (surprise) ducks. She did a great job and she assures me she got some pictures before I took to the knife and served up a piece of tail to the guests ;0)
As an extra treat, my weekend has been a good one in another way. My sis lives out of state (about 9-10 hours away) and I didn't expect her to make the trip for the shower. But, boom, there she was. I really appreciate that she made that long drive to be there for my girl's shower and the rest of the weekend.
My child has been so blessed with wonderful gifts. I have to say, however, that I've got to reel some of this stuff back. It is overwhelming. I feel like I could start a daycare center. There are toys filling three large toy boxes and more clothes than I think I have ever owned in my lifetime. It's so comforting to know how many people care for me and for my girl. Even so, I find myself getting silly excited about gifts of diapers and the 'useful' rather than cute baby care products now. Who knew?
For everyone of you who have a little girl (or will in the future), I cannot recommend this book strongly enough (click on picture to enlarge for info). It is just sweet and touching. To me, it is what being a mama is all about. This was a birthday gift from that amazing sis-in-law I mentioned before.
I'm one lucky mama...in so many ways. Now, where is that TA? I predict tomorrow or Tuesday. Let's see how good my skills of prognostication turn out to be.

Don't worry about too many clothes! Between thing I bought, hand-me-downs, and shower gifts, Caroline had 98 outfits before she ever set foot on American soil. Yes, we are crazy, but what fun it was!
