Are we there yet?

YES...we are. After 22 hours of, pardon my honesty, traveling hell we have safely arrived in Beijing. I was just a wee skanky and cranky after the long flight so after some zzzzs and freshening up a tad, I'll be good to go. Hah, it is just now midnight in Beijing. I'll have to catch a few more zzzzs before the busy morning starts.

In truth, travel went without a hitch. There is just something about 14 hrs in coach that is wrong on so many levels. I have the cankles to prove it. After all, one can only loiter by the bathrooms so long ;0) I had a few glitches at security both in the states and here but nothing major....aside from telling the security agent in the states that I was NOT taking off my money holder and letting it go as they requested. They decided to forget the cavity search having decided I wasn't a threat. I have to say I found the airport agents to have a MUCH better sense of humor in China.

It is so bizarre to me. The plane landed on the other side of the world from where I live, yet, I felt like I could have easily navigated my way around completely alone. Great signage. Easy to communicate. Quite comfortable. I'm not sure what I was expecting but I was thinking I would feel more hesitation about setting out and about. I have no trepidation whatsoever....at least not in Beijing!

The hotel rocks. We got our little faux pas of one bed for us girlies fixed right away and have been settling in quite well. I was most happy to see this:

and this:

after that unending flight. It's the simple things that make one happy. The beds are comfy as can be and life is wonderful...or will be as soon as I get hydrated, de-cankled and thoroughly martinized ;0)

Thanks for all your sweet comments. It is still just amazing to me that my sweet girl is just days away. I honestly feel a little drunk when I think about it and, no, I haven't been in the minibar.

Next....tales from the touring.

Have fun touring...stay away from the water...and get plenty of sleep while you can. ENJOY!

So glad to see everything went as uneventful as possible (minus airport security). I'm sure you are sleeping right now, or should be anyway. I'll be getting up early in the am to see if you have written anything about your day of touring as we sleep.
