- This is it...the last LID duck picture EVAH. No, it isn't that I'm thinking I won't need another but I am at the end of my duck road. No more lining them up in the bathtub. Not gonna do it. Not sure what I'll come up with for #33....the FINAL LID commemoration in my opinion.
- For those who saw the roof cleaning pump, fear not. The pump gig allows me to use it from the ground. I do not get on the roof. I learned my lesson about such endeavors.
- My last several days at work have been ladybug tattoo free. I did have a daisy on an earlobe though. Hmmmm.
- The last weeks leading up to referral, to me, are definitively more difficult than the times during the wait when I actually could distract myself with other things. I am at the point where I am nothing but distracted but only by 'all things referral'.
- Someone shared a horrible story with me today about an accident she was in. Her vehicle struck someone on a motorcycle. The motorcyclist did not make it. I feel for all involved. The young lady driving the vehicle will carry this upon her shoulders for the rest of her life. She was not impaired at the time. It was a horrible accident and nothing more but I cannot begin to imagine the pain she must feel about what happened.
- Okay, that was one depressing bullet.
- I still cry...a lot. But it's not sad stuff. I just leak all the time now and can't seem to help it.
- Unfortunately, my 'busy jitters' went away and I am finding plenty of time nosh again. I have this weird craving for all things cheese lately. Some ricotta in honor of the Italian-speaking, Chinese boy of my dreams?
- I spent quite a bit of time trying to help fix my downstairs potty yesterday (plumbers are getting way too much of my dough). As for the potty, I'm not the only thing that leaks around here. Isn't it fascinating to know that the commode in question was born on June 29, 1983. It was stamped right inside. Heh, I was a young pup in the early part of my high-school days. Big hair, leg warmers, high heels and mini skirts. Shush - I could rock it...then.
- I am calculating out due dates at work now with the clear knowledge that by the time these kids arrive I will have been to China, become a mama, spent a nice while off with my kidlet and then returned to work. Yup, it's true.
- Luggage. Thoughts anyone? Remember I am planning COO so if you can come up with some great suggestions to maximize space, please let me know. I figure my 'purse' will be some kind of backpack affair.
- Rumors...hints? I NEED some. Well, I prefer facts. They're easier to work with.
- Ahhh, the nights are getting chilly in Buckeye land. Time to peel the ultra-sexy red union suit out of the closet. VS ain't gettin' nuthin' by me!
- I've decided I'm going to partake of the early vote. The thought of dealing with that poll nightmare on the 4th is not making me warm and fuzzy. I always end up behind the person who sneezes, wipes his/her hand on a pant leg and then goes on to massage that little poky thing. Ewww. (Seriously, this has happened to me more than once). I feel like taking a bottle of bactericidal stuff and shooting everything with it....more germs than a kid's ball pit I tell ya.
- Enjoy your Friday.

You can be my distraction next week and I can be yours. As for extra space I use XL space bags for cloths. It give a bit more space but I am bursting at the seams right now and will have to use another bag just to get from Texas to CN. I am such a pack rat and way over pack all the time. Keeping my ears on all the FACTs coming soon re referrals.
For COO try www.minimus.biz for travel sized goods....gotta make things smaller!
We LOVE LOVE LOVE our "paklite" carry bags, that we used for our April trip. I'm breaking out the big guns for the next trip though! They were 51cm, which is the "international" carry on size. They had lots of pockets and handles. Remember if you COO, you can only take 100ml bottles of liquids (for your toiletries) and they have to fit into a 1 litre zip lock bag.
http://www.luggagestore.com.au/online/paklite/cabin-bags/67-paklite-origin-trooper-trolley-53.html
Paklite is Australian, so I'm not sure you want to pay the massive postage?!!
HA! I'm glad another "expectant" mother is having cravings!!! I thought i was the only weird one?!! I crave "cheese supreme" corn chips!!! Its all i ate yesterday!!!
Bullets abound! SO excited for you and counting the days. Happy 32nd!! Wheee!!! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for 33....IF you need it.
You KNOW I can't help you with the luggage thing. Hmmm...I'm currently packing for a weekend (scrapbooking = tons o stuff) and trying to figure out how to downsize my stuff so that there's at least room for the other 2 gals to sit. Too bad I'm not leaving them any luggage or 'stuff' space. They're going to be quite sad when they have nothing to scrap with! ;o)
But hey, if anyone can go COO it's you my friend! Looking forward to seeing your teeny, tiny packing and being inspired.
Have a great weekend!! xo
PS - Bring on those rumours....or even better babies!!!
I've been watching your ducks since you were a single digit gal. Can't believe it's finally almost over. Not that I don't love your ducks, I'm just a little tired of them :) I would much rather see a cute girl/italian boy. I'm with ya on the germs. My husband is not shy at all about his purell habit. I swear, he'll shake someone's hand and try to be subtle with his little bottle in his pocket, but soeteimes, not so much. I'm bringing wipes with me.
Wow, I admire you for being able to travel COO...I cannot do that no matter how hard I try! I do have some tips though:
-Space bags: the non vacuum needed type. They not only protect your stuff, they squish it and you have more room for more stuff.
-Forget toiletries (except for tampons or pads and meds). You can get whatever you need at the hotels or local stores anywhere.
-There are laundry services in China, so you can pack less clothes.
-You will need that backpack purse to carry your documents in China and the baby's needs: diapers, bottle, water bottle, wipes, etc. A diaper bag is not really necessary if your "purse" has room in it.
-don't forget a camera!
Wow, congrats on 32 down. Definitely get some of those space saver bags (I like the ones you roll the air out of vs. having to vacuum it out). They work great for diapers and all that poofy winter stuff.
I think the bacterial gel at the polling booth is a GREAT idea. Ewww, indeed. *shudders*
Have a good weekend!!
You have WAY too many ducks...You know you have just opened yourself up to people sending you ducks!!
I just don't get how you can go COO - my toiletries would take up the whole bag - I wouldn't get any clothes in there!!
I remember before we got our first referral (for Lindsey) and people ahead of us would be going nuts right before their turn. I couldn't quite understand why they were SO jumpy. Ha! Found out when it was my turn. I know what you mean about life being about "all things referral". I'm so excited for you!
I got chills when I read your saying that you would probably be in Chine when some of your patients reach your due date. What and exciting thought! The crying is such an interesting thing. I find that being a mom has brought my emotions closer to the surface and I get choked up far quicker than I used to. I think it is a cool thing!
I've heard matching has begun (on RQ?)- i didn't check but read it on another blog. I am loving your posts lately man. I feel like i'm living through you- with you- so in tune with what you're feeling. And you always, always have me literally laughing out loud.
I'm sorry about that accident. God that is tragic. i cannot even imagine.
your time calculations are amazing. amazing... isn't it?? god... amazing. she'll be HOME... home, with you.
there i go again, covered in goosebumps and gettin' all teared up C. every time i think of it.
32 down! I'll miss the ducks next month....and the month after that. Hell, I'll probably be dreaming of ducks every time the
24th rolls around.
You know I'm with you on the COO, but I didn't realize the weight limit was so low. I'll have to work on that one, so I'll be watching for your advice. I did come across the Vera Bradley microfiber backpack with all the pockets that caught my eye because it was so lightweight. Like the one seen here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Vera-Bradley-Espresso-Microfiber-Backpack-BONUS-ID-Tag_W0QQitemZ270291729554QQihZ017QQcategoryZ63852QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
We have a duck collection ourselves (maybe about 40 or 50), so I'm kind of sad to see them go. I will NOT be sad, however, when you finally receive your referral!!!!
As to COO, we know several people who chose to do that. I always think it's a great idea because you have peace of mind that your luggage WILL arrive. I will say that - if you are traveling in a group - it doesn't save you quite as much time because you still have to wait for everyone else's luggage.
32 done and the finish line is in sight! If 33 is needed, I know you will find a creative way to commemorate it.
Leak and revel in the tears. It is healthy for the soul.
COO...I still do not see how it can be done. But if there is anyone who can do it, it is you.
I am trolling for rumours...like an addict...and it is not my time even. When it is... you will have to get A & E to stage an Intervention for me.
Keep smilin!
COO? I would so love to do that! I can't wait to see how you do it, because I may need tips.
Happy 32! You've been keeping the faith and it's about ready to shine on you!
Hey! I just gave you a "to do" (like you needed that) over on my blog. :-)
Oh, and get used to the crying thing, I still "leak" all the time
Try lining up 33 real ducks...I would just like to watch you try LOL
Daisy..hmmm, doesn't her room have lots of them!
I think the due date thing is great...on a much LESSER note I did that with milk. Seriously, I remember buying milk and the expiration date was later than our travel date to China : )
I'm only a Gramma in waiting, but I'm getting tearful at anything also!!! I can't wait for these referrals..I'm so hoping they get to your date this month... I want all the Feb people to be in China at the same time... I have followed all your blogs and feel like I know you. I so enjoy reading your blog and following your journey. You are some strong woman, and will be a wonderful Mom... fingers crossed for this month.....Linda
Connie,
Your posts always put a smile on my face !!! I so hope you are in this next batch with us. I'd love to meet up with you in Guangzhou. In regard to COO, my hubby absolutely loves his Patagonia MLC bag. He uses this all of the time for his business trips and is planning on using this for our trip to China. I bought American Touister i-lite bags (21" and 25"). I plan to use the 25" for my stuff and the 21" for my son and baby stuff. The 21" is actually quite roomy and very light.
Just my 2 cents.
Cheers,
Joanne
32! I would so love to vote that 32 would be the last set of numbers you'd have to post period! I know I'm dreaming but.. a girl can dream. these next few months are going to be so very exciting with so many blog mommas LID's coming up! :0) BRING ON THOSE REFERRALS!
OMG, I cannot keep up with your bullets. I sure do feel with that woman who was in the accident...heart wrenching. Life can be so random :(
This is truly the hardest part of the wait but you are doing great. You are almost there.
As far as COO, I think you are nutso personally. Either way, you are on the right track about the backpack purse. I got a backpaack diaper bag that I used for both trip because it was perfect to travel wity (lots of seperate compartments to keep things organized) and it was awesome once we had the children in country to carry their their booty while we were hiking all over China :-)
I would be more than happy to loan it to you...it was the bomb!
Have a great weekend, hopefully there will be a rumor or two pretty soon! I did the early voting and it was fantastic. In and out, no line, no sneezing, and I even brought the kids with me!
Here's my suggestion for packing.....go naked. You won't have to worry about ANY clothes. And you'll have LOTS of room in your bag for other stuff. NO? Spoil sport.
Wow...the last of the ducks...I'm wondering if we do get to meet in China whether I'll see a commemorative duckie out of the deal? :) I still have my pink one you sent me a year or so ago- she sits in my bathroom waiting a little girl to play with her! It's ironic that a few people have said they thought the 24th would be included in this next batch...the cynical side of me says NO WAY, but the fact that you are out of duckie patience for lining them up makes me think, huh, maybe another sign.....you've been lining duckies up for 32 months and maybe it's finally our turn!!! Catch you in China LID sistah!
Yeah, I bet you'll be happy to never see another rubber ducky after this!
Man, I wish we had early voting here...I think you made the right decision on that one!
Happy 32!
I've really got my fingers crossed that there won't even be a need for a 33 pic.
I've got your 33 covered :P ... and I'm gettin' all hot thinking about you in your red onesie ;)
Happy 32... We will get to see those ducks in the water with your little girl soon..
Have a Great Weekend..
I know this is crazy, but I'm going to miss your ducks. I will have to settle with adorable pictures of your little Italian speaking Chinese kiddo! It won't take long to get over missing the quackers. :o)
I love daisies, but on the earlobe??? Nope!
It is amazing to think that in a mere nine months all of waiting, wondering, questioning will be over! I am so excited for you.
I can't believe you're really gonna go COO! that's going to be hard in the wintertime! :)
lots of great ideas already mentioned, but get the lightest bags you can (though they don't really weigh them for carry on-at least they didn't a year ago)..you want light just for you. :)
Make sure you get roller bags cuz you're not gonna want to lug bags AND a kid thru the many airports.
make sure the bags you get, you can hook together -ie:once we had Elizabeth, we hooked my backpack to my carry-on roller bag, and then those 2 to my checked bag so I still had one hand to roll the bags and one hand to hold Elizabeth.
we used ziploc bags to make small things like socks and "unmentionables" smaller and then the XL ziploc or hefty bags to pack our regular clothes in. lay on the bag, squeeze all the air out...voila! lots of extra space. take extra ziploc bags with you "just in case".
both of us carried backpacks-packed to capacity-..once in China my backpack became the diaper bag -got double duty out of one bag.
remember-I'm a flight attendant :) so if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!
oh! oh! oh! I forgot!
don't take bacterial gel, cuz you're only allowed 3 oz, instead, go get bacterial hand wipes..take them out of the giant tubs and pack them into ziploc bags..saves A TON of space and works much better when trying to wipe up sticky fingers!
do the same with baby wipes...don't take the big ole tubs..take 'em out and pack them in ziploc bags.
just make sure you label your bags! :)
I'm all about maximizing my space when packing. :)
I am loven watching all of my blog buddies get so close!:)
OK - first of all you KNOW how I feel about COO. NO!!!! Can't do it - impossible - don't even try. Please...I am so stressed just thinking about it.
Second....WTF with putting the thought of voting day and snot in my mind? Yuck.
Happy 32.... I am giddy and checking RQ like it is my turn again.
I would be jumping out of my skin right now if I were in your shoes. So exciting!
I had everything packed in suitcases initially and couldn't fit everything in...bought some space bags and moved everything to a large open duffle bag with wheels...much easier to squish everything in than with the rigid form of a suitcase.
Oh...I forgot...the duffle also weighed about half of what the suitcase weighed when empty.
