Feelin' the love? It's a mixed review

Happy Valentine's Day....if you care to be the sentimental type.

I have the Valentine I've been waiting for all my life just around the corner:

My Valentine really IS a babe and I wouldn't want it any other way.

But, I'm not feeling the love in in some other ways.

1) I am sick. Yes, joy. I have the good old fever and aches. Last night I started wheezing and getting short of breath which throws me into my own kind of terror alert after that ever-so-lovely relationship with pneumonia last year. That part seems better at the moment but it better be gone - and fast - or my tuckus will be getting x-rayed and pumped with antibiotics pronto. I am going to be optimistic, however, and say 'better this week than next'. I'll have it out of my system by China time. For that, I am grateful.

2) A particularly whiny individual took off sick from the office this past week (after vacation time the week before). Awwww....whatever. Grow up. I ended up doing my job and hers yet again and that gets old. Get over yourself, I say. Just so you understand that I am not heartless, this same individual took off and left everyone hanging when her cat scratched her face because 'it just didn't look good'. Wait, I think I just pulled something rolling my eyes. I need a week off.

3) I'm just not sure what has happened to the idea of a work ethic. I mean this in general. Way too many people honestly believe the world owes them simply because they have a pulse. It disgusts me because it is the people who take their responsibilities seriously who get screwed over.

Okay, I confess. I am feeling pretty crotchety today! (Who would have guessed?) Every now and then I gotta let it out. It keeps me from being arrested and having to wear a most unattractive orange jumpsuit. That would certainly clash with the color of love this Valentine's Day ;0)

On a happy note, I'm packed and ready. That only took about 30 collective minutes. I'm on my way to my daughter in 11 days and will have her in my arms in 15 days. What else really matters?

Time to go swallow some Day-Quil.

Oh, since a number have asked, I do hope to blog from China...as long as the laptop holds up and I can get onto the site. Of course, that will all be secondary to me hanging with my gal.

UPDATE:

Okay, that is just plain surreal. I was asked when it was that I started dreaming of my little Italian-speaking Chinese boy. I was curious to see how long ago it was and did some searching. The first dream of him was one year to the day from when I will leave for China.

My daughter stayed at Victory and liked it.. Had no problem posting, nor does Leeanne who keeps putting those beautiful pictures of Tari up each day. We need to see your Glowing, Happy face with your daughter at least a few times. It gives hope to everyone following you and happiness to those of us who have waited with you to watch your family come together.
Here's hoping your sickness cures quickly and you are in top shape to handle Pipa... Linda

I'm sorry you are feeling so sick and I hope that you feel better very soon. I love coming here to see the pictures of Pipa. Could she be ANY cuter?
I totally agree with your on the entitlement and on the work ethic ideas. It's time for people to grow up, for sure.

Hope that all the sickness is gone a.s.a.p. because I know how lousy it is to travel whilst being sick and wouldn't wish it upon anyone. Good going on the early packing, you are one prepared Mama!

I'm sick, too. It stinks. Good thing you have something absolutely wonderful to look forward to in just a couple of weeks. Hopefully, you'll be healthy as a horse by then.

Take care!

Seems like everyone is sick! Oh well, I suppose anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger so your immune system will be totally pumped up and ready for anything China throws at it!

We blogged during all three of our China trips. Blogger once and Typepad twice. No problems at all with any of them. Even if you can't see your posted blog, you can still easily post to it (so others can see) Piece of cake!

Can't wait to follow along!

Weird re: the dream! =)
I am still amazed you are COO. You totally rock. But then I should have known you could do it!
Sick and crotchety is in the air. Take care of yourself. Gotta be healthy for the adventure ahead of you. =)

One of the best things about blogging is being able to go back and look things like that up. It's a little scary how things will connect later.

I hear ya on the work thing. It gets frustrating. It's pretty frustrating trying to instill it in unmotivated teenagers who don't see it modeled at home, too. Grrrr.

Anyway, that would be my vent, not yours. ;o)

None of this matters because you're going to see your girl in 15DAYS!

Hope your feeling better. Honestly the first thing I thought though was better this week then next. As far as entitlement - I wont get started but will say I truly believe it is only going to get worse and work ethic - hmmm, not the way I was raised. I have gotten hung up on a customer service call more than I would like to share - pathetic. Enough about that - OMG 11 days - yippee.

Happy Valentines Day!
ELEVEN. DAYS!
Wow.
So glad the nasty bug will be all out of your system by the time you leave. You'll be able to enjoy that sweet little one without the nasty side effects of NyQuil. And your body won't be tempted to get sick when you get home.
Two days after we brought Alek home from Russia in '99 I came down with a terrible sinus infection. I felt like I was going to die only seven days after I had become a mom. ;)
Just think. Eleven days! :)

Sorry to hear yer sick. So not fair when you've been working your tuckus off to cover everyone else's places at work!

Laughed right out loud when you sprained something rolling your eyes!

11 days...e-l-e-v-e-n! Wow!!! Cannot wait to see Pipa in mommy's arms - right where she belongs!!

xo Happy Valentine's Day friend!
