I have to tell you that I am absolutely lovin' Ann at Red Thread China. I sent PIPA's package less than 48 hours ago and today Ann emailed me with updated information on my girl. Smoky bones has she ever grown since her referral information compiled in August!
My little weenut is losing the wee! She is 22lbs and just shy of 27 inches tall. I think she just may turn out to be taller than me sooner rather than later ;0) As an added bonus, my lady has 4 choppers in her mouth. I am just amazed at how chubalicious my little 11-month old gal seems to be. Having that update was such a boost. My daughter is growing well and it makes my heart feel good to know that. Hmmm...no mention was made of hair so I think we still may be a little sparse on that subject! I just can hardly stand the waiting to be with my baby at last.
I am starting a call weekend that promises to kick my arse...even so, just try to make me stop smiling!

Great news!! Getting updates will help bridge the time until you meet her.
Sounds like Pipa is doing well..
I can't wait to see that pure cuteness in your arms..
Have a FAST weekend..
That's awesome that you were able to get updated info! What a great way to start the weekend :o)
22 pounds at 11 months old? All I can say is WOW! (The Tongginator was a little speck in comparison.) It's good to know that she's so healthy.
What an awesome way to start the weekend... So good to hear she is growing on schedule!!!
Have you heard any TA rumblings from your agency yet???? I sending the wishes out there!
Yeah for updates! Any word on TA? Can't wait to follow along.
I told you Ann is great !
I am so excited for you.
Wowza! Your little girl is doing so well and growing, growing! Still jumping for joy over your news and how soon you may see your sweetness and hold her in your arms!
How fun to get an update!
Glad to hear that Claire is healthy, strong, and growing!
HOw nice to receive that feedback. Sounds like PIPA is doing really well. I'm sure you are smiling a little wider each time you birth a baby now knowing very soon you will be holding your very own.
good gracious 22lbs at 11 months:) Great news!
As for the hair it grows in pretty quick....a year ago sophie was sporting quite the crew cut....now look at her!
Sending your package tomorrow!
Ann at red thread took us shopping....I thing she weighs all of 22 pounds!! It is probably because she walks and talks at the speed of light! We spent an afternoon with her and saved us some $$ and a ton of time.
That is one healthy gal you got there! Yay!
Briana was 17.6 pounds at 12 months!
How exciting can this get???!!! So glad you are getting updates. Thank you for sharing your journey. Maybe you will be in China for the New Year. New Year, New Beginnings.
Deb
These updates are so precious!!! Elise's report was similar in her weight at that age but they must have weighed her in all the layers because she was no where near 22 lbs when I got her. :)
How wonderful to get an update!
Glad to hear you got some news about the Pipa girl. Isn't it amazing? She's real. A living breathing person. Not just a dream anymore. You have no idea how much seeing you get your referral has lit a fire of hope and faith in my heart. :)
Great news! It sounds like she is eating well and that she is being taken care of.
The Yichun foster care staff take great care of their babies! Our daughter had nice rolls of fat(that disappeared quickly as she sprouted) and was in perfect condition upon receiving her. If you send a picture of yourself they show them to the babies. Our daughter would point to her photo bear and point to Baba when we asked her where he was. Later when we received the disposable camera the foster mother was pointing to the bear and introducing her to us.
As for the height weight thing, our daughter was always tall but still rather lean and lanky in weight. I agree with the poster that the babies are bundled up like 'Michelin men' when they are being weighed. Dress them warmly in Nanchang or you WILL be chastised. Warmth of babies is very important to the Chinese.
I am so enjoying your posts and cannot wait till you get your TA and you finally meet your precious Pipa!
Warmly,
Kyra
I found some really cute hairbands for Jeane at Shuruba.com. They're cute, but not too big and frilly, which is what I was looking for. Then people know she's a girl. Her head was shaved bare when we got her, so it was nice to have something that showed she was a girl....:-)
What a blessing to receive such excellent news in the update! It sounds like she is healthy and thriving! What a joy it will be when you are finally there and able to gather your precious wee one up in your arms!!!
Congratulations!
My oldest was bald (not shaved, bald)and didn't have enough hair to cut until she was 2 1/2. I miss those days. : )
Great getting update..Anne is so great, she even got Donna 2 pictures. Donna and several other girls she is traveling with have hired Anne and they will be shopping the Pearl market with her. I'm sure there will be pictures of her on her blog in a week or so.. I cannot wait for your Pipa to be in your arms.....Linda
Last I heard, our agency is still opposed to care packages. I'm going to have to explore this further, though. It sounds so wonderful to be able to do it and to get the updates!
WOW! 22 pounds??!! You're going to have arms like Madonna in no time, carting Pipa around! ;)
How exciting to get such wonderful updated info! Have you been carrying around your sacks of rice to get your arms prepared to carry such a lovely bundle? HA! That's what some parents did when I first adopted like 6 years ago - whoa did I just say I adopted 6 years ago? Seems like yesterday!
One word - HATS! Not only are they functional to protect a folicle challenged baby - but they are cute too!!
Stay on that cloud girl . . . you deserve it! Nancy
Excellent!
Keep smilin!
P.S. Let me know if the pyjama will still fit. I can send a bigger one if it doesn't.
Wouldn't even think of trying to get rid of that grin. Your little chubalicious girl sounds so darned cute!
I had to go to the conversion site to see what PIPAs measurements are, in real language!!!!!
Geez! She's just under 10kgs and 69cm long! :) Very good to see your PIPA loves her food!!!
I just wanna grab those cheeks and give em a big smooch!!!
I hope you baby proofed your home, because La Pipa is going to be running around sooner than you think!
Have a great weekend!
Updates are always fun to get. Yay for you! It sounds like PIPA is growing by leaps & bounds.
Great news that you got some updates! That helps during the "travel" wait!
Alyzabeth's Mommy
I'm a bad Mom, I have no idea what any of my children were at 12 months....not a clue. I'd have to go dig up a few baby books to remember that number. But I do know that your little gem has left a permanent smile on my face.
Pipa sounds awesome and BTW, I used Ann's services while I was waiting for Ethan (I used a different service for Katie Starr) and I loved Ann. She goes above and beyond and all of the info was VERY accurate!
Great to see those stats on Pip Pip (my nick name for her like her friend Chu Chu) Chu Chu was a wopping 24 lbs at update and stayed there until I got her. She is now 28 lbs and feals more like 50 sometimes. She is considered to be big for a China baby so look out girl you may need to start lifing weights:)
Glad to hear that she's doing well and growing! Who know's, she may even have hair by the time you go get her.
Sounds like she is dong very well. So wonderful! Four teeth! My goodness watch those fingers of yours!
She sounds healthy and perfect!! Good news :O) So glad to hear it!
That's wonderful news. Thse updates are so wonderful to receive. It is so good to know that your daughter is being taken care of and I know she loved your care package. I can't wait to see more of those sweet cheeks.
Hugs,
Jonni
